EDWIN L. POMEROY
Edwin L. Pomeroy, of Richmond, has been appointed Veterans Claims Agent for the Front Royal Office of the Division of War Veterans' Claims of the Commonwealth of Virginia, the position formerly held by Edward M. Mathews. Pomeroy was born and reared in Front Royal and was educated in Warren County schools and the Smithdeal Massey College of Richmond. In 1939 Pomeroy left his home in Front Royal to work for the Glenn L. Martin Aircraft Manufacturing Company of Baltimore. He entered the U. S. A r m y in 1944 and was discharged with the rank of Master Sergeant after serving more than two years in the Philippines. He then settled in Strasburg, the hometown of his wife, and became general manager.of the Womack Chevrolet Sales, a local Chevrolet Agency. In 1957 the agency was sold and he moved to Winchester and became associated with the Robinson’s Enterprise as bookkeeper and accountant. In 1960 Pomeroy joined the staff of the state headquarters the American Legion, Department of Virginia in Richmond, as assistant to the Department Adjutant. In the past seven years, he has made numerous friends all over the Commonwealth of Virginia.
Pomeroy is married to the former Miss Lois F. Artz of Strasburg, and has one daughter, a former woman-Marine,1 who works as a clerk-typist for the Richmond office of the
