Mrs. Lucy Ellen Holmes
Mrs. Lucy Ellen Holmes, 88, widow of John Edward Holmes of Amissville, died Saturday, June 3 at the residence of her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Cletus Stover with whom she had made her home.
She was the daughter of the late Albert and Lucy Hitt of Rappahannock County. In addition to her daughter she is survived by a son, Irvin H. Holmes, of Amissville, one sister. Mrs. Eddie Hitt of Amissville, 12 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and two great-greatgrandchildren. She is also sus vived by two step-sons, Harvey Holmes of Warrenton and Walter Holmes of Amissville and a step-daughter, Mrs. Robert Corbin of Casanova. A funeral service was conducted Tuesday at 2 p.m. from the Amissville Methodist Church with the Rev. William Layman, the pastor, and the Rev. Norman Flythe, a former pastor, officiating. Interment was in the church cemetery. The pallbearers were Mason Hitt, Mort Colvin, ! Charles Burrough, Jimmie j Colvin, Robert Corbin and Ed! die R. Hitt. ! The Geest Funeral Parlors jwere in charge of the arrangements.
