RAPPAHANNOCK’S Board of Supervisors voted last Thursday to hold hearings on a proposal to raise dog tag fees to $3 for males, $3 for unsexed females, $5 for females — with some strong misgivings by some members, notably Herbert Foster, that the proposal will “fill the court house.”
Under the motion of H. B. Wood Jr., German shepherds would be taxed “as ordinary dogs,” thus eliminating the existing penalty of $10 for female German Shepherds.
Kennel fees would be doubled, to $30 for up to 20 dogs, and $50 for up to 50 dogs.
The motion to set the hearing came after a discussion of the dog fund problem that consumed one hour and 15 minutes, and involved spectators in the audience as well as members of the Board.
