1972. The Rev. R.L. Banks of Culpeper conducted the service and burial was in the family section of the church cemetery. Survivors include three brothers, Charles Jackson of Boston, Va., Carl Sykes of Pittsburgh, Pa., and Joshus Jackson of Baltimore, Md., and two sisters, Mrs. Ruth McGee of Baltimore and Miss Bennie Sykes of Washington, D.C. □
J. B. Haney
A funeral service< for John Brown Haney, 81, of Scrabble was held Friday at 3:30 p.m. at the Shiloh Baptist Church, Woodville, conducted by the Rev. C.A. Baltimore of Alexandria. Burial was in the church cemetery.
Mr. Haney, a native of Rappahannock County and retired farmer died at the University of Virginia Hospital, Charlottesville on September 3, 1972.
He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Roberta Jackson of Boston and a son John J. Haney of Falls Church; eight grandchildren and a great-granddaughter. □
W. B. Bruce
William Bryan Bruce, 75, of Overhills, North Carolina, died Friday morning in a hospital there after a brief illness.
A native of Sperryville, Va., he had made his home at Overhills for the past 50 years. He was a member of the Buffalo Masonic Lodge in Sanford and an Elder in the Manchester Presbyterian Church of the Covenant.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Covenant in Manchester by the Rev. James R. Hicks. Burial was in Cross Creek Cemetery. , Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Thelma P. Bruce; two daughters, Mrs. Virginia B. Strauch of Burlington, and Mrs. Dorothy B. Pagter of Tryon; and five grandchildren. Other survivors are two brothers, Robert and Bennie Bruce of Front Royal; three sisters, Mrs. Annie Griffith of Washington, D. G., Mrs. Virginia Trotter of North Hollywood, Cal., and Mrs. Nina B. Brown of Sperryville.
