A motorist struck and killed a deer at 6 a.m. yesterday morning on Route 642 a mile and a half south of Amissville. Clarence Keith Payne of Rixeyville operating a 58 Ford pickup hit the animal, a 9 point buck weighing 200 pounds. Damage to his truck was estimated at $100.
On Saturday, September 9 at 1:15 a.m. on Route 211 two miles east of Washington, Charles William Jenkins of Washington overturned in the median in a 69 International pickup.
According to Trooper Dean Irvine, who investigated both of these crashes, Jenkins said he swerved to avoid another vehicle in the west lane, lost control of his truck and turned over.
Damage to the truck was set at $1,500.
Trooper R. A. Baines reported auto vehicle collision on Route 522 just north of Flint Hill Tuesday about noon. Richard McSpadden of Bradenton, Fla.
