Chairman Miller asked whether the Dog Warden is hired from month to month, or from year to year. Davis, reading from the statutes, said the contract runs for a minimum of one year.
Concluded Miller: “If we don’t pay claims now, and unless we raise the dog tax or discontinue it. there’ll just be a continuous backlog every year. We’ll never catch up.”
“Aren’t some counties doing away with the dog fund?” asked Supervisor J. R. Latham. Miller said he thought some were, but he wasn’t sure. Davis suggested that there might be state funds available for paying dog claims, but this point was not pressed when
