The apple harvest in Rappahannock is underway and the cool nights are just right for improving the color of the red delicious now being picked. The fruit is hauled by wagon load, truck load and trailer load from the orchards. Some will be packed for the fresh fruit market, while others will go to juice plants, cider mills, canneries for pie apples and apple sauce. Vinegar and applebutter are also much used apple products. The crop in the county as well as the state is short.
