FAUQUIER County no longer has any control over the construction and location of Vepco’s proposed powerline route through the county, ruled Circuit Court Judge Rayner V. Snead on July 24. Judge Snead issued an order from the Fauquier Court house in favor of Vepco in the giant power company’s four-year-old suit against the county, because a new state law passed just last year retroactively took away the county’s right to approve utility lines.
Attorneys for the county practically conceded this point to Vepco, but argued that the legal provisions of the new state law were not met because the county was not asked by the State Corporation
