PARDON US for being cynical, but after all those garden - fresh vegetables are rotted and gone, we wouldn’t be surprised by revelations of scandal and profiteering. There have simply been too many instances in such a wide range of industries for the public to expect anything but the worst. We hope we’re wrong, but let it be said that we won’t be surprised if eventually some Congressional committee or some Ralph Nader group comes up with shocking and disgusting tales of skullduggery and profiteering, at the expense of average Americans .
There have been doom-say - ers among us in recent years, predicting the demise of the traditional American system, and its replacement by whoknows-what. If the system does fail—and who can predict the future—it’ll be because of the •worms who eat at it from the inside, and not from any external cause. D
