THE' Rappahannock - Rapidan Community Mental Health and Mental Retardation Services Board has appointed Mrs. Jean Kay Thomas as director of nutrition services, the program which provides senior citizens of the District with hot meals and recreational activities. Mrs. Thomas had previously been administrative assistant to the Services Board’s executive director, David Schwemer.
Mrs. Thomas, a graduate of Longwood College, is assisting the Chapter 10 Board in developing an expanded system of services to the aged of Orange County. This is in response to a recent request by the Orange County Board of Supervisors for the Chapter 10 Board to assume on their behalf the administrative auspices of a grant from the Virginia Office on Aging.
Mrs. Thomas has inherited a program that is already highly utilized by the senior citizens of the District, said Schwemer. The nutrition sites now operating in Unionville, Gordonsville, Orange, Culpeper and Warrenton are serving a wide variety of people. Nutrition Services involves an average of about 100 persons daily at these sites. It is Mrs. Thomas’
