The District Planning Commissioners authorized executive director Art Warren to enter into an agreement with Fauquier County to “assure smooth implementation’’ of a grant which will be used to pay for the costs of restudying the service districts and growth areas in Fauquier’s master plan.
Planner Ken Ostrick was introduced to the commissioners as “the new Jim White.” Jim White resigned as physical planner for the district to take a job with Culpeper County. “I’m not sure how to take that,” Ostrick grinned. “Just say I’m the new Ken Ostrick.” The district commission’s new physical planner then presented a slide show. He emphasized that the Planning District has some “of the best agricultural land in the world” and should be protected from “sprawl” through “planned growth.”□
