WASHINGTON Fire Department and Rescue Squad had a very successful four nights for their annual carnival, according to a spokesman
for the volunteers. This brings to a close the fund raising carnivals sponsored by each fire company in the county which have
dominated much of the summer.
Phyllis Johnson of Gordonsville was the recipient of the $1000 cash prize given away Saturday night. The riding lawn mower went to D. D. Miller of Washington and Elmer Foster Jr. of Front Royal was given the $25 certificate for gasoline.
Thomas Jenkins of Culpeper got the case of motor oil and $10 in grocers went to Jack Lockhart of Front Royal. Other prizes given were a table lamp to Helen Breeden of Amissville; 4 bar stools to Patricia Jenkins, Washington; a tire to Allen Tuel of Culpeper and Etta Estes, Washington, received the snack trays.
Steve Bailey of Washington was given the cookware set while the pressure cooker went to John Deal of Washington and the cutting board to Richard Deal of Culpeper. A fire truck went to R. M. Rector, Culpeper and Edward Jenkins of
