Notice is hereby given to the public that Central Telephone Company of Virginia on August 6, 1975, filed with the State Corporation Commission of Virginia an application for authority to increase and restructure the Company’s present schedules of rates and charges for intrastate telephone service. The application was accompanied by the proposed tariffs which if allowed to become effective would produce, according to the Company, additional annual revenues of 13,372,767. By order dated August 11, 1975, the Commission suspended the effective date of these tariffs pending its investigation, hearing and decision.
Earlier the public was given notice that the Company proposed to put in effect a surcharge tariff on rates for local telephone service, excluding intrastate toll service, Wide Area Telephone Service (WATS) and coin telephone services, to produce additional revenues of 11,227,091. In its order of August 11, 1975, the Commission authorized the Company to put in effect a surcharge tariff designed to produce 11,051,907 rather than the 11,227,091 requested by the Company. This increase in rates has been allowed, subject to refund of any revenues collected in excess of the rates and charges finally found just and reasonable after a complete and full investigation and public hearing.
The reasonableness of the revenues collected under the surcharge and the reasonableness of the Company’s proposed schedule of tariffs will be the subject of a public bearing scheduled to begin on
