WIT KUNCEWICZ noted that Peter Kramer will try to organize a statewide effort aimed at persuading the legislature to repeal House Bill 661, which took away the right of localities to have a say in the location of public utility lines. Kramer asked that RLEP members contact friends throughout Virginia, or give him the names of people in other counties who might help get 661 repealed.
Phil Irwin announced that RLEP has received a $3,000 grant from the Public Welfare Foundation of Washington, D.C. That means RLEP still owes its Richmond attorneys $1,500 for arguing the RLEP case against the powerline before the State Corporation Commission. In addition, RLEP will owe the attorneys another $3,500 for the appeal to the Supreme Court.
