SOUTHEASTERN livestock prices continued to climb during the week ended September 5, while most grain prices dropped, USDA’s Agricultural Marketing Service reports.
Hog prices posted advances for the fifth consecutive week. Gains of 25 cents were registered at Georgia-Florida-Alabama packing plants. Generally a good demand prevailed at southeastern cattle markets causing prices to move higher. Most feeder steer and steer calves were firm to $2 higher, while heifers and heifer calves trended steady to $1 higher.
