GOOSE CREEK in Loudoun County and portions of the Rappahannock and Rapidan Rivers have been recommended for State Scenic River designation by the Virginia Commission of Outdoor Recreation. The Commission voted Monday, September 8, in Richmond to recommend to Governor Godwin and the General Assembly that 27.5 miles of Goose Creek, 29 miles of the Rappahannock and 13 miles of the Rapidan be controlled under state scenic river legislation. If the rivers are designated “scenic,” no dams can be built without the permission of the General Assembly, and recreation will be encouraged.
The Commission of Outdoor Recreation also approved an expenditure of $1,075,000 in state funds for the purchase of the Northern Virginia Regional Park Authority’s Algonkian park. The 240-acre park
