Other budget requests from the Health Department and library evoked little comment from the Supervisors at the May 5 meeting. County librarian Gladys Huffstedler presented a $12,918 budget, an increase of $1,491 over the current year. She told the Board that use of the library had doubled while costs of books, postage and utilities had also gone up. State requirements call for the library to stay open 40 hours per week “but so far, they’ve excluded us,” she added.
