RLEP To Host
Candidates
Candidates for the House of Delegates from this area who are competing for the seat to be vacated by French Slaughter have agreed to state their views on environmental issues at the quarterly meeting of the Rappahannock League for Environmental Protection on Friday, May 20, at the Court House in Washington.
The candidates are George Beard, Republican; John J. "Butch” Davies, Democrat and Robert Murphy, Independent. The RLEP forum is designed to provide voters with an opportunity to learn about each candidate’s position on environmental issues. A question and answer period will follow brief statements from each speaker.
RLEP urges everyone who has opinions on matters such as land-use taxes, solar energy subsidies, regional planning, air and water pollution, wildlife preservation, a bottle law requiring re-usable containers for beverages, solid waste disposal or any other subject to attend the meeting and ask the candidates to take a position on these topics. The public from the entire area is invited.
