Excitement mounts in Washington as preparations accelerate for the forthcoming four-night carnival which will open next Wednesday evening. May 25 and continue through Saturday night. May 28. The opening feature of the event will be the grand parade which gets underway at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday.
The parade lines up and on business Route 211 in the vicinity of Baldwin’s Grocery, west of the town and will continue on 211 to the carnival grounds at the east end of Washington. In the lineup will be bands from Northern Virginia and a fire and rescue salvage unit from Virginia Beach area which will be on display at the carnival grounds. A cardiac unit from Fairfax City Fire Department which cost approximately $78,000 will be in the parade and open for public view at the grounds, also.
