Dr. R. S. LeGarde reported that the county’s share of public health program costs, $15,234, was the same level as last year’s expense. He said plans called for increased clinical activities in the county but added that efforts were “somewhat limited by the facilities.”
According to LeGarde, the state will fund half of the construction costs of a new building, for the health clinic amortized over 20 years in rent payments and will pay 100 per cent of costs for equipment to furnish the building. In addition, he said the state would pay 30 cents per foot in maintenance fees.
Luke asked if part of a new building could be used for purposes other than a health • department clinic.
LeGarde replied that the office space could be shared. He said he had shown county engineer Fanning Baumgardner a building in Orange that would be adequate for clinic purposes. “It can be finished for $25,000,” he added.
