Under DFCP, the ASCS will provide up to 80 percent of the cost of earthing out these practices on farms affected by drought.
Farmers who have a need for one of the conservation practices should make an application at the Rappahannock County ASCS Office. The signup period is from August 22 through September 2, 1977. All applications must be made during this time.
Area producers whose corn yield has been reduced due to the drought are encouraged to make an application under the low yield disaster program.
Legislation is now pending in Congress, that if passed, would determine eligibility based on planted acreage rather than on an allotment.

Education Group To Meet
There will be a meeting of the Rappahannock Citizens for Better Education Monday, August 29, at 7 p.m. at the Episcopal Parish Hall in Washington. Senator Nathan Miller will discuss with the group the formula of the state funding for education.
