Engagement

Announced

Mr. and Mrs. John Dalziel Wood of Atlanta, Georgia announce the engagement of their daughter, Louise Dudley, to John Granger Macfarlane III, son of Mr. and Mrs. Macfarlane, Jr. of Roanoke. Miss Wood is the granddaughter of Clarence Jackson Miller, Jr. of Washington, and the late Mrs. Miller.

She is a graduate of Hollins College and is a member of the 1974-75 Atlanta Debutante Club. In 1973 she was presented at the L’Ariosa German Club Christmas Ball in Wilmington, North Carolina.

Mr. Macfarlane graduated from Hampden-Sydney where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. He was awarded a Baker Scholarship for graduate study and will attend the University of Virginia.

The wedding will take place December 28 at Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church.

Washington VFD Meets

The Washington Volunteer Fire and Rescue Dept, will hold their regular monthly meeting on Monday, August 29, at 7:30 p.m. Any interested persons of the community are invited to attend.

Social Planned

The Promised Land Baptist Church, Washington, will be celebrating its first anniversary with its new pastor, the Rev. John R. Pendleton, on Sunday, August 28 at 3 p.m. The Rev. Carter Alsberry of Strasburg will be the speaker. Everyone is invited to attend.

Church Notice

The Rev. Aubrey Jackson, pastor of Little Forest Baptist Church, Stafford, will preach at the Macedonia Baptist Church, Flint Hill, Sunday, Sept. 4, at 3 p.m. He will be accompanied by his choir.
