To the editor:
The Rappahannock league for Environmental Protection, at its Annual Meeting on Friday, September 9th at 7:30 p.m. at the Court House in Washington, Virginia, will sponsor a discussion concerning waste disposal. In an effort to respond to public interest in this subject which is of special concern to persons living in rural areas where the population is expanding, the R.L.E.P. has invited two experts to address this topic.
Mr. Leo Horvath of McLean, Virginia, who has had much experience in planning sewer systems and in developing new methods of waste disposal is expected to discuss the various ways in which rural'communities might most efficiently and economically address this problem. Mr. Stanley Asreal of Alexandria who owns and operates one of the largest scrap disposal plants in the state will deal with the subject as it pertains to both recyclable and non-recyclable products.
These matters of environmental (water and land) pollution are of particular interest to the League but it is hoped that the public will attend this meeting. After each speaker has presented his point of view, the meeting will be open for questions from the audience. Following the program a brief business meeting will be held at which there will be the election of officers to the RLEP.
