Park Trail Opens
A scenic river-side walking trail will be open for visitors . to the New Market Battlefield Park by the middle of September, Park authorities announced today.
The circuit trail meanders through a wooded area from the park museum to the North Fork of the Shenandoah River. Though % not now frequented by visitors to the park, the area figured prominently in the 1864 battle best remembered for the gallant charge of the Virginia Miliary Institute corps of cadets.
Visitors will also find taped audio programs at the reconstructed blacksmith and wheelwright shops of the park’s Bushong farm.
