The Increased demand for newspaper doesn’t mean that recycling the material will produce a net cash flow if people have to be hired to do the work, according to Aziel. Any successful newspaper recycling program must start with homeowner: effort to keep the paper Separated from the rest of household trash. -
Aziel said that other items, including aluminum, steel and bi-metal cans and glass, are marginal at best in terms of cash flow. He noted that recycling of light gauge metallic items, such as refrigerators, stoves and hot water tanks, also didn’t pay for itself but was improtant in terms of space saved in the , landfill.
“The enthusiasm is here (for recycling)’’, Aziel said. “This suggests to me that it would be an easy matter to establish (a recycling program) and keep it going.”
