Thomas Bernier, Executive Director, Northwestern Virginia Health Systems Agency has announced one vacancy for a consumer on the Agency’s Board of Directors representing the Rappahannock-Rapid an Planning District.
The vacancy was created in July by the^resignation of Col. Pete Luke.
Any resident of the area eighteen years or older, and who is not a provider of health services, at least for the past twelve months, is eligible for consideration.
The Northwestern Virginia Health Systems Agency has a 30-member board of directors—17 are consumers of health care and 13 are providers of health care services.
The Agency is a non-profit ' organization mandated by law to develop a Health Systems Plan and to make recommendations to the Commissioner of the State Department of Health on Certificate of Need Applications.
These applications provide a process for the residents of the area to comment on such things as the building of nursing homes, expansion of community hospitals, changes in health services and changing the number of beds in a hospital.

The RappahannockRapidan Subarea Health Advisory Council at their monthly meeting Sept. 14 will nominate individuals to the parent organization, the Northwestern Virginia Health Systems Agency.
