Boy Scout Troop 123 of Washington, held a Court of Honor on Friday, Sept. 9, at the Recreation Center.
Nine advancements in rank were awarded by James B. Bywaters, Scoutmaster. Eric Bear, Jimmy Bywaters, Dale Cameron, Doyle Dunn, Downing McCoy and Gary Smoot advanced to the rank of Star. Edward Summers advanced to First Class while Mike White and Chris Ingle received Second Class rank.
Twenty-nine merit badges and two skill awards were presented to these Scouts and to Joe Foster, by William F. Bear, Jr., Assistant Scoutmaster.
They included basketry, canoeing, chemistry, cooking, fingerprinting, law, orienteering, rifle and shotgun, pets, home repairs, firemanship, animal science, wilderness survival, fish and wildlife management and swimming.
Most of the merit badges were received during the boys’ week at Camp Rock Enon. However, the Scouts were very fortunate to have Bradford Fisher as their counselor for the chemistry merit badge. They are all grateful to him for giving his time during the summer to work with them.
