Roads to be covered include Interstate 95 between Arlington and Prince George Counties, Interstate 64 between Richmond and Norfolk, Interstate 66 between Interstate 495 and Gainesville, and Interstate 81 between Dixie Caverns and US 220 at Cloverdale.
In addition to the special holiday coverage, the department’s daily patrol of 1-495 and a segment of the Shirley Highway (1-395) in Northern Virginia will remain in operation around the clock.
The department urged motorists to be sure their vehicles are in good operating condition before starting out on long holiday trips.
