Either the student will receive remediation (in the summer school or by being held back a year) or die student will be awarded a “certificate of attendance*’ rather than a standard diploma.
In an attempt to prepare Rappahannock’s ninth graders for competency testing, Bloomer plans to get copies of a pilot program exam and “administer it as an indicator to find out where we are.” He noted that the group pilot program in southwest Virginia included rural school jurisdictions similar to Rappahannock. This consortium has talked about administering their exam outside their boundaries, according to Bloomer, and he has asked that they consider this county as a test area.
