Because ot changes made in the law this year, disaster payments on corn and other grain crop losses are being made through Department of Agriculture ASCS offices on a basis of planted, rather than allotment, acres. Under the new formula, if less than 60 per cent of an average yield was realized this year, an eligible corn producer receives 50 per cent of the $2per-bushel target price on the failed portion above 40 per cent.
