Mrs. Virginia D. Smith, Commissioner of the Revenue of Rappahannock has announced that she will not seek reelection to that position this fall. She has been associated with this office for 23 years, first as Deputy and then as Commissioner for the past eight years.
In declining to run again, Mrs. Smith said that she has appreciated the support of the county residents for all of these years and their cooperation has been most gratifying. She feels that it is time to step down, to enjoy her family and do things that did not fit into the schedule of a full time job.
Mrs. Smith and her husband, Harry Lee Smith, live at Spring House Farm near Washington. They have two daughters, Mrs. R. V. Snead, Jr. of Lynchburg and Mrs. Duane Dillard of Greencastle, Pa. “There’s lots to do around an old, old house like ours,” said Mrs. Smith, “and we have grandchildren to enjoy.”
Mr. Smith is a licensed commercial pilot and flight instructor and is also a real estate broker.
