The Wheat and Feed Grain Program—The Feed Grain and Wheat program is well underway. Many local farmers have signed up to participate in the 1979 setaside program.
Farmers who comply with the set-aside program are eligible for commodity loans, voluntary diversion, disaster and deficiency payments.
Set-Aside and voluntary diversion acres may not be grazed until September 1, 1979.
Farmers have until April 30 to sign up to participate in the 1979 set-aside program. Additional information on the sign-up, set-aside acres, or grazing may be obtained from the Rappahannock County ASCS office.
Agricultural Conservation Program (ACP)—Sixty county farms have enrolled in the 1979 Agricultural Conservation Program (ACP).
The 1979 program emphasizes rural pollution abatement as well as solving soil, water and woodland conservation problems. Funds will be available for cost-share payments when practices have been performed and bills submitted to the county ASCS office. The new program is directed toward treating serious conservation
