We need to provide not only services but wider opportunities, a positive environment, to head off problems before they occur.” As examples, she cited in-school suspension programs and added emphasis on alternative education.
First priority under the Virginia Council on Criminal Justice grant is to form a delinquency prevention task force comprised of interested citizens, service professionals and youth, according to Morgan. The task force will then compile a complete listening of youth services available in the county and distribute the information, probably through a brochure handed out in the schools.
