According to statistics released by Superintendent Robert R. Jacobsen, Park visits were down 25.2 per cent from 38,100 in February, 1978, to 28,500 in February, 1979.
For Calendar Year 1979 compared with Calendar Year 1978, the decrease is 9.7 per cent. To date, there have been 4,488 overnight stays in the Park compared with 5,522 for the same period in 1978.
Measurements taxen at Big Meadows Weather Station show a maximum temperature for February of 54 degrees and a minimum of -9 degrees. Snowfall totalled 22 inches and precipitation 4 82 inches.
