Rappahannock continues to lead the five counties in the Rappahannock-Rapidan Planning District in unemployment.
According to figures released for October by the Virginia Employment Commission, 7.0 per cent of the county’s work force is jobless. This translates into 175 unemployed out of 2,303.
By comparison, the October unemployment rate for Orange was 5.5 per cent, for Culpeper 4.9 per cent, for Madison 4.5 per cent and for Fauquier 3.6 per cent.
The- national unemployment rate for October stayed exactly the same as for the previous month at 7.1 per cent. Virginia’s unemployment rate for October was 5.1 per cent.
