David Konick maintained that the proposed tax changes would put an unfair burden on families with two cars where both mother and father work. He noted that farmers are already going to get a "big break" with land use and questioned if eliminating the tax on farm machinery would result in any savings if farmers have as many licensed vehicles as the speakers at Monday’s hearing.

“This is the fairest proposal we can come up with in my mind,” supervisor Wood responded.

The commissioner of revenue added that she'd only requested the supervisors to examine the county’s personal property tax system and had not proposed changes, just suggested alternatives. “If someone could come up with something better, that would be wonderful,” Scoggin said.
