Travel Drops
For 17th Month
Although travel by out-of> state passenger cars was up slightly, total travels on Virginia’s major highways dropped in October for the 17th consecutive month, the Virginia Department: of Highways and Trgnsportation has announced.'^
Overall travel declined, by 1.2 per cent compared to October, 1979, while travel by out-of-state passenger liars increased 1.5 per cent. It was the fifth straight month that out-of-state passenger car travel had increased, ^according to J. P. Mills, the department’s traffic «nd safety engineer.
Travel by Virginia passenger cars was ddjvn slightly, less than 1 per c^it. Commercial travel atjso showed a decrease ip October when compared to a ysiar ago, being down 3.4 per cefct:
