Checks Made

The Potomac Edison Company is scheduling helicopter flights over electrical facilities in this area, checking for damaged or broken equipment.

According to PE Assistant Division Manager Jim Poffenbergcr. the flights are routine ones and do not indicate any problems with local electric service.

"Before the availability of the helicopter patrol, the company was forced to handle equipment surveillance with foot patrols," Poffenberger said. "It was far more costly and required hundreds more hours to complete."

Should damaged equipment be spotted from the air. local line crews are dispatched to the trouble area to make necessary repairs.
