Nancy rceeve interjected that the school board couldn’t answer many of the questions from the chaperones. ‘‘There were some we couldn't answer unless we’d been given specific situations,” she said, adding that she relied on the chaperones to ‘‘exercise common sense."
Mrs. Massie read from a long list of inquiries presented by the teachers last Wednesday:
—How can the drug and alcohol policy be made believable?
—What are the penalties for violations? Can a violation prevent a student from graduating?
—Are penalties different for the second offense?
—While on the Williamsburg trip, are teachers supposed to carry out an investigation immediatedly if they suspect a violation or wait until the return to Rappahannock?
—Can student luggage be checked before the group leaves the county?
—If a violation occurs, are teachers expected to call police immediately? If so. which police?
— Does it make a difference if a student is of legal age to drink? If an 18 year old is involved in a policy violation with a 17 year old, can the older student be charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor?
