Miller described the new evidence presented by the parents in executive session as "overwhelming, something you couldn't refute."
In a final comment, Brion Patterson, teacher-chaperone for the Williamsburg trip, told the board that he and the other chaperones only wanted a clear explanation of the consequences, should drug or alcohol policy violations occur.
"We weren't casting aspersions on the students and we weren't condemning them ahead of time." he said, any more than the board cast aspersions on students when it adopted the drug and alcohol policy.
"The chaperones never declined to carry out their responsibilites. We onlyasked what was expected of us. We wanted clear answers." Patterson concluded.
