At an unevetful planning commission meeting last Wednesday, Allen Stokes was unanimously elected chairman of the advisory body. Stokes is the commission’s representative from Piedmont District.

In other action, the commission set Wednesday, August 19, for a public hearing on J. J. Dwyer’s application for an agricultural and forestal district. Since the original filing, Phil Irwin and Linda Dietel have joined their property in the application, bringing the total number of acres involved to 1,285.

Werner Krebser agreed to investigate how tag-on applications fit into the time frame of a request for an agricultural district and report back to the commission.

A public hearing on the town of Washington’s new subdivision ordinance will also be held August 19. Since the town does not have its own planning commission, the county’s commission is holding the required hearings and making recommendation on the proposed ordinance to Washington’s council.

GREAT opportunities come to all, but many do not know they have met them. The only preparation to take advantage of them, is simple fidelity to what each day brings.
