I he KappahannockRapidan Health District has initiated a project of high blood pressure screening and referral. Targeted for special attention are males between the ages of 20 to SO and minorities.
High blood pressure screening is an ongoing activity for persons who attend health department clinics. This additional effort to detect people who are unaware that they have high blood pressure will focus on people, at higher risk, who seldom receive medical examinations. A project grant, awarded by the State Department of Health, provides funding for the part-time services of a nurse; however, the program will also rely on the regular health department staff and volunteers.
