Mr. and Mrs. Charles Gilbert Lawrence Jr. of Amissville announce the marriage of their daughter. Valerie Kay to Mark Andrew Scruggs of Richmond. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Elliott Scruggs of Mechanicsville.
The candlelight ceremony was performed at 6:30 Nov. 14 in the Amissville Baptist Church by Dr. Fred Skaggs and Rev. Joseph Stirman.
Traditional wedding music was provided by Mrs. Landra D. Silvey. Miss Debbie Scott of Fort Worth. Texas, former college roommate of the bride?, sang The Wedding Prayer and What Are You Doing the Rest of Your Life.
The bride, escorted by her father and given in marriage l by her parents, wore a gown i of ivory chiffon with lace ^bodice and boat neckline with bishop sleeves and lace buttoned cuffs. Her fulllength veil fell from a pearl and . lace headpiece with coordinating lace trim. She carried a bouquet of gardenias with stephanotis and ivy.
Mrs. Virginia Lee Harlow of Lexington Park, Md.. was matron of honor for her sister, wearing a long gown of burgundy quiana.
Bridesmaids were the bride’s cousins. Miss Beverly Lawrence. Miss Brenda Lawrence and Miss Lisa Priest, all of Amissville. They woye old rose quiana dresses with matching capes.
All attendants carried old rose and burgundy candlelit arrangements. Their headpieces were fashioned of rose and burgundy silk flowers with fern and baby’s breath.
