His poetry might be considered old fashioned. It rhymes and has meter and the subject matter harks back to the good old days and the good old values: honesty, hard work, the beauty' of a countryside m autumn, a mother’s Jove. « father’s love—and patriotism. “I feel like an American. I served in World War I and we had four sons in World War II. Seeing them go was a whole lot worse than me going.’’ he added. ’’But I’m proud of what they did,” W. B. Dennis would like to see his country recapture part of those good old days. "The Spirit was so much better then. If we don’t change, everything’s going to explode. This can’t last. The bubble’s bound to bunt. And when it does, we’ve got to get our feet back on the ground again.”
He doesn’t want to see Americans give up their indoor plumbing. the automobile, electricity or some of the other advances that have made life easier. But W. B. Dennis believes his fellow countrymen and women must develop closer ties to the land, if not as farmers and gardenen. then as conservationists. "Everything conies from the land and everything goes back to the land.” he emphasized.
