Next week is Fine Forgiveness Week at the Rappahannock Library. During the week of Monday January 9 through Saturday January 14, patrons may return overdue library books with no questions asked and no fine charged.
There are currently 220 books overdue at the library. About half of these have been overdue for more than a month. This unusually large number of overdue books is part of a nationwide trend that is costing libraries more and more money as the cost of replacement books goes up.
