Settle
Richard Settle applied for a variance to build a commercial garage at the back corner of his property. Settle does car painting and body work at his home on Route 522 in Flint Hill. He decided to put up the new building after his insurance company notified him that his present working conditions were a fire hazard, he explained.
Settle wanted to situate the new building near the back of his land so as to leave adequate parking space in the center of his property. The building would have a five foot setback at the side and rear to allow for building maintenance, he said, but not the customary 50 foot set-back from the lot lines.
