Ben Thompson now resides on the same tract in sight of the home Bob Ridley and Mollie built upon arriving in the Canaan Valley in 1876^Dn a recent visit, I visited nim with my son, Robert Dabney, and drank a bit of bourbon with Ben to toast the end of the Eastham-Thompson fued. We even drank it beneath the uniformed portrait of Ben’s ancestor who was a federal officer in the Civil War,” Eastham related.
Remarried
Upon his return to Rappahannock, Bob Ridley and Mollie lived in a stone dwelling some distance to the west of Rose Hill, between Massie’s Comer and Washington. After Mollie’s death near the end of World War I, Bob Ridley married Bessie Jordan and moved to her home on the hill overlooking the town of Washington (now the home of Mrs. James S, Willis, the daughter of Emily and Arthur Miller).
