Washington and Flint Hill rescue team responded to the accident. Esther D. Fain had superficial injuries and John Fain sustained multiple rib fractures and a fracture of his right hand, Baines reported. Both were transported to Fauquier Hospital in Warrenton for treatment.

Ice covered roads sent cars sliding into ditches from one end of the county to another. Most were minor mishaps which didn’t require police involvement, according to Sheriff W. A. Buntin.

Trooper Baines investigated a one-car accident near Willis Chapel on Route 522 at which occurred at 11:20 a.m. last Wednesday.

Doris Irene Silva of Middletown lost control of her 1976 Ford sedan while traveling southbound. She skidded off the shoulder, tearing out four panels ol board fencing on property belonging to Williain Carrigan, the trooper reported. Silva was not injured; her vehicle sustained approximately 6800 worth of damage.
