The Rappahannock County Pubhc Schools will open for students on Thursday, August 23. School will be dismissed at 2 p.m. on the first day.
Elementary School
The elementary school will collect fees and issue books on Wednesday, August 22. Fees are the same as last year, $22 for grades K-3 and $32 for grades 4-7.
Kindergarten students will be giyen name tags by their teachers on Fee Day. These will include the teacher’s name, the room number, the student’s name, and the number of the
first few days.
If parents are unable to come to school on Fee Day, they are requested to make up a name tag containing the above information and pin it to their child’s clothing the first day of school. Any parent who does not know the number of the school bus may get this information by calling the School Bus Shop at 987-8591.
Parents are strongly urged to send their children to school on the school bus. Teachers, aides and administrators will be on duty to get them safely from the bus to the correct classroom.
Past experience has shown that children coming on the bus adjust quicker than those coming with a parent. It also helps relieve any nervousness about going home on the bus.
Any parent who drives his or her child to school on the first day of attendance must not leave the school before making sure that the child’s teacher has the number of the bus that the child will ride in the afternoon.
Due to the heavy work load at the beginning of the school year, no new students will be registered on Fee Day, August 22, or from Thursday, August 23 through Monday, August
