Rural areas may receive leas block-grant funding under a new allocation system, Krietler said. She will draft a summary of her concerns, send a copy to Delegate Andy Guest and a copy to the board of supervisors.
Fire & Rescue training tower: Representing the Rappahannock County Fire & Rescue Association, Paul Poling told supervisors they’d be notified soon of an $8,400 grant to the association.
The grant dollars, Poling said, would enable the association to complete the training tower in Amissville, used year-round for the training of hundreds of area firefighters. Amissville recently has been designated one of 23 regional training sites in the Commonwealth, Poling said.
In order to obtain the grant, Poling explained, the county must agree to act as a “middleman,” accumulating bills and administering funds for which the county will be reimbursed.
The county does not have to match the grant or allocate any new funds to the Fire & Rescue Association, Poling made clear.
The supervisors motioned to enter into contract for the grant, contingent upon receiving written notification of the award and approval by Commonwealth’s Attorney Luke upon return from vacation.
The motion by the supervisors will enable the association to continue work on the training tower, which should be completed by March 15, 1985.
In other activity, the supervisors referred to the Planning Commission an application to create an agriculturalforestal district of 500-plus acres, and also approved an agricultural-forestal tag-on request of 80.22 acres, which had been approved by the Planning Commission.
“I once again protest any further formations of agricultural or forestal districts,” Bob Eastham of Flint Hill said.
